Small Wonder
A trip down memory lane...really liked this show when i was a kid. If you're wondering what happened to Tiffany Brisette, the young actress who played Vici (or Vicki), check Wikipedia or IMDB or "google it".

Trikes and bikes and the Philippine savanna
Tricycles are annoying sometimes. I still ride the tricycle frequently, and still like the ride. Problem is when im not riding one. Tricycles, and their cousins, motorcycles, act like annoying little creatures on Philippine streets. They are the ones who appear to be the least mindful of road courtesy (if there is one). Whenever Im driving, I see those tricycles and motorcycles running like they are the kings of the road. Silly three wheeled creatures, and foolish two wheeled vehicles. Everyone knows the kings of the Philippine roads are the stainless steel jeepneys. As for buses, they're just big bullies. For private vehicles, they are just a variety of creatures who think they are better than the public vehicles.
One annoying day, when i got stuck in traffic, i sort of amused myself. i was watching tricycles and motorcycles pass by and i thought, the Philippine roads are like the animals on the African savanna. The jeepneys are the lions and the buses are the elephants. When you see the jeep and the bus on the same road, you see them fight over passengers. The jeepney showing no signs of fear over a bigger opponent, well, sometimes. Actually, elephants are much nicer than our buses. I wouldn't consider elephants as bullies. But in a battle between an elephant and a lion, size is the only thing an elephant can rely on, the same way a bus depends on its size to bully the other vehicles on the road. Most of the time, only jeepneys are the ones who are tough enough to challenge these big bullies on wheels.
As for the tricycles, they are like the African hunting dogs because when they are waiting in their tricycle terminal, they look like a pack of three wheeled vehicles, and more so when a number of them get passengers at the same time, like going out on a hunt, and the trike drivers seem to have a social system in their toda. Usually, trike drivers of the same toda know each other and of course, cooperate with each other.
And the motorcycles are the hyenas just because i find both to be annoying.

Man in the Mirror
Christmas day is over, and New Year's day is fast approaching. So, people are going to make their New Year's Resolution..again. They do it every year, but do they actually accomplish it? Ok, maybe some. Are they realistic? Ok, who am i to ask? Point is, there is no point. People doing their New Year's Resolution reminds me of Michael Jackson's song "Man in the Mirror".
"I'm gonna make a change, for once in my life
It's gonna feel real good, gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right...
...I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change"
And this picture reminded me, also, of the song "Man in the Mirror" (literally).

Driver's Nightmare
One of the things a driver on Philippine streets/roads would probably consider to be a nightmare is having kids running on the sidewalk and then suddenly crossing the street as if they were indestructible little creatures.
I experience this from time to time. I'm driving peacefully, not violating any traffic rules when all of sudden, a kid suddenly appears out of nowhere, running on the sidewalk. So that sends off a signal to be more cautious as long as the kid is there, running either in front or beside the car. Then one sudden move, a move so completely foolish that you don't want to expect it but it happens anyway, the kid suddenly crosses the street, right in front of you. So, you hit the brakes as quickly and as hard as possible just to avoid hitting the kid. And you see the kid continue crossing, as if the world is a very harmless playground. Of course, a sigh of relief escapes from the driver's mouth. Some would go curse the kid or shout different sort of profanities, some would just ignore and forget the whole incident. I belong to the latter set of drivers, and i used to be that kind of kid.
I remember that a car almost hit me, and could have ran over me, because i foolishly decided to overtake the car so that my sister could not tag me to become the 'it" on our one-on-one game of tag. Of course, in a race of car vs kid, the kid would have no chance in hell of winning unless the car's not running. Well, as a kid, maybe i already believed in the adidas slogan "impossible is nothing". I was lucky that the driver was able to hit the brakes just in time, with the bumper of his car barely hitting my knee or thigh.
Now that i think about it, I've become my own nightmare...or something like that. Well, having kids like that is something drivers have to deal with. Like pedestrians who refuse to use the overpass (even the pretty ones built by MMDA). Or the tricycles in some areas, especially provinces. Or fellow drivers who are clueless of traffic rules or the aggressive type of drivers (guilty of both, sorry, but i'm more of a defensive driver now compared before when i was just starting. unfortunately, i still lack the knowledge on traffic and road rules)

Only Human
To err is human, to forgive divine.
Alexander Pope, An Essay on Criticism
Well, nice quote Pope, but, some people seem to be abusing this statement. Ok, it's natural for human beings to commit mistakes, it's expected but it should not be considered as something inevitable. Ok, it's sort of inevitable but one should at least try not to consider it as one. But then again, some people are better off thinking they are inevitable. Anyway, the point is, one can't always keep on forgiving, it should have a limit. Can't humans be expected to learn from their mistakes? Or not to commit the same mistakes? Or at least commit the same ones over and over (and over) again?
I'm just tired of people committing the same mistakes, and appear to be not exerting any effort not to commit it. Wait, double negatives. Does it mean they're exerting some effort to commit it? Sorry, I'm digressing. Point is, it's really tiring to hear the "I'm only human" excuse, especially when the mistake can be avoided by an average prudent man (or woman, but then again, some would argue, a prudent woman is not the same as a prudent man).

Wait...wait...wait...what am i doing again?
Im having a hard time uploading some pics on my multiply site!
Not that its important but it just so happens that i need to transfer them to yahoo photos (before uploading them on multiply) so i can save a copy online. i could burn a CD instead but saving them online is my preferred mode of...well, saving pics. i could just let it linger on my hard disk a little longer but, i have to prepare myself for the unexpected. a computer could crash any time (although it usually crashes on august, dont ask me why). anyway, after waiting for quite some time, i decided to give up. at this very slow rate, there's no chance i would be able to upload the pics. i decided to blog instead since this site seems to be showing no signs of slow internet activity and well, the other sites ive visited aren't loading.

Sister Encarnacion
Well, I think I'm posting like crazy here. Anyway, the girl in the sunsilk soft touch commercial reminded me of the Mexican actress Ana de la Reguera (although they may not really look very similar, like I said, the girl in the commercial reminded me of "Sister Encarnacion"). She played Sister Encarnacion in the Jack Black movie, Nacho Libre (2006).
Sunsilk soft touch
It's been quite some time now since the Sunsilk soft touch commercial was released. In this commercial, there's this guy and girl in some kind of grassy field, sitting on a bench and later having a picnic. Whenever the guy attempts to touch the girls hair, the girl avoids the guys hand. Anyway, point is, many people love the soundtrack of the commercial. If you would check different online forums, many people are really obssessed with the song and have been looking for it for months. And well, finally, sort of finally, the song was finally released. Unfortunately, the one singing it isn't the original artist. The song was given the title "Let Me" and performed by Orange and Lemons. For some, this has been a relief since the song would be available (other people can't accept the fact that the song might have been written only for the commercial because it was too good just to be a song for a commercial/advertisement) but for others, like me, would really prefer the original singers/band sing the song.
Anyway, here's the Sunsilk soft touch commercial (got it from youtube)

Crap cakes anyone?
Now, it's 4am. Am I blogging on rotation? What? Didn't quite understand what I said. This is the 4th blog entry I have written in two hours on different blog accounts. And all blog entries don't have any significance at all. I must be nuts for doing this! Come to think of it, I am nuts, am I not? This insomnia is driving me crazy! Quoting Homer Simpson, "I hope I didn't brain my damage". Wait a minute, that quote didn't fit quite right. It's 4am! Who cares!? Have a crap cake then. Great, I'm over using the word crap cake.
