To err is human, to forgive divine.
Alexander Pope, An Essay on Criticism
Well, nice quote Pope, but, some people seem to be abusing this statement. Ok, it's natural for human beings to commit mistakes, it's expected but it should not be considered as something inevitable. Ok, it's sort of inevitable but one should at least try not to consider it as one. But then again, some people are better off thinking they are inevitable. Anyway, the point is, one can't always keep on forgiving, it should have a limit. Can't humans be expected to learn from their mistakes? Or not to commit the same mistakes? Or at least commit the same ones over and over (and over) again?
I'm just tired of people committing the same mistakes, and appear to be not exerting any effort not to commit it. Wait, double negatives. Does it mean they're exerting some effort to commit it? Sorry, I'm digressing. Point is, it's really tiring to hear the "I'm only human" excuse, especially when the mistake can be avoided by an average prudent man (or woman, but then again, some would argue, a prudent woman is not the same as a prudent man).
